Reiki

Reiki is the Japanese word for universal life force energy.  This healing therapy was founded in Japan in the 1800's by Mikao Usui who dedicated his life to the study of hands-on healing methods.  Reiki is not a religion, as it holds no creed or doctrine.  It is not a belief system; therefore, no mental preparation or direction is needed to receive a treatment.  Reiki supports and lights the inner consciousness that is present and alive in each of us.  It is a holistic relaxation therapy that focuses on the root cause of conditions rather than merely on the symptoms.  Its healing flow adjusts to the specific needs of each recipient, thereby promoting the body's natural healing ability.  Since Reiki doesn't require a specific setting or preparation, it can be utilized anywhere including all hospital environments.

How Does it Work?

Reiki is a simple yet profound healing art promoting deep relaxation and spiritual unfoldment.  It restores and balances the body in a way that is integral to one's health, well-being, and aliveness.  Reiki is channeled by the practitioner to the recipient through a gentle hands-on technique that facilitates healing on many levels.

What Can I Expect from a Reiki Treatment?

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around the recipient.  Having a treatment is really quite simple.  The client will lie on a massage table, fully clothed for approximately one hour.  The practitioner places her hands either on top of or slightly above the body.  People have reported a tingling sensation and a feeling of warmth.  Some even fall asleep due to the relaxing nature of Reiki.
